                                    PROJECTS / INITIATIVES COMPLETED

Major projects initiated or completed during fiscal year 2021 included:

          1. Continued the validation of programs offered by the School.
          2. Continued to update our computers and computer programs to keep up with a changing environment. Imple-
mented our new in-house Student-Instructor Record-Keeping program, called LMEP-Learning Management
for Emergency Professionals, which will allow us to continue to grow in the future with more automated fea-

             tures.
          3. Continued to run the New Castle Fire Academy class. This year we had 23 students complete the Academy
and receive their national Pro-Board certifications in Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials

Operations, and Firefighter I & II.
          4. Received federal AFG Grant (Assistance to Firefighter Training) to receive a firefighter self-survival training
trailer with tow vehicle; and personal protective equipment for instructors (20 sets of full turn-out gear and 25
sets of rescue gear including helmets and gloves).

          5. Our Agency assisted the Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA), Department of Public Health
(DPH) and the National Guard with testing and vaccination sites throughout the State during the COVID-19
pandemic. The EMT’s were trained how to administer vaccines under the supervision of DPH. Our agency

also handled the distribution of donated PPE and sanitation supplies for the State through DEMA before it
was handed over to Public Health.
          6. The Delaware State Fire School became flexible in the delivery of classes so that training could continue for
both Fire and EMS personnel throughout the State. We accomplished this within CDC Guidelines of social dis-

tancing, masks, health checks for students and instructors and providing bagged lunches.
          7. Updated the Scantron test grading equipment.
          8. Entered into a Memorandum of Under-

standing with Delaware Technical & Com-
munity College for student support on au-
             dio/visual projects.
